Ask Questions > Music Listening LS?

Hey there! I attended a LS immersion workshop in Olympia this past February and really enjoyed a structure that I would like to try out here with my workgroup, but I can't find it on the menu or in the LS in Development section of the website. What I remember of the structure is: partners listen to a piece of music with backs turned toward each other. They then describe what they heard in detail to their partner. Then the same music is played again but you have to listen to it from your partner's perspective as they described it. It was fascinating and I would very much appreciate any information about how to deliver this. Thanks!

Hello Nicole, we call this activity Back to Back Listening and classify it as “LS punctuation” rather than a formal Liberating Structure. It very nicely punctuates Simple Ethnography, HSR, Generative Relationships, and Helping Heuristics. It helps people notice more of their individual and collective ability to walk in the shoes or listen in the ears of their clients/customers/students. I will send you a Word file describing Back To Back Listening in detail. Warmly, Keith

Hi! We will try-out "back to back listening" in our next user group. Where can I find the information? Thanks in advance!

Hi there! This is the only reference I found to back to back listening. I am also interested to get the information to use it in our user group meeting. If you can send it to me that would be awesome. Marco

I was probably the person who facilitated the activity in Olympia back in 2016. I can send instructions of how I facilitated it if you contact me on LinkedIn.
